NCC and NPCIL Join Hands to Promote Awareness on Peaceful Nuclear Energy Usage

New Delhi: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at conducting nationwide awareness programs to enhance public understanding of the peaceful application of nuclear power and to disseminate scientific and authentic information.

The MoU, signed in New Delhi on March 21, 2024, saw the participation of DG NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh and Executive Director (Corporate Communication & Corporate Planning) of NPCIL, Shri BVS Shekhar.

Under the agreement, NPCIL will provide resource persons to engage with NCC cadets during camps and various activities, educating them about the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Furthermore, the MoU facilitates visits for cadets to NPCIL facilities across the country, offering them a firsthand experience of nuclear energy’s technical and technological aspects.

Describing the MoU as a significant initiative to broaden the horizons of cadets, DG NCC emphasized its potential to cultivate a more aware and responsible youth cohort. With 1.5 million NCC cadets capable of influencing youth perspectives globally, he expressed confidence in their pivotal role in making the awareness drive on peaceful nuclear energy a success. He extended gratitude to NPCIL for their support, emphasizing the collective responsibility to guide youth towards awareness and responsibility.
