National Conference on Technical Textiles Spurs Collaboration and Innovation in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada: The Ministry of Textiles, in collaboration with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, hosted a one-day National Conference on Technical Textiles today in Vijayawada. Supported by the Indian Technical Textile Association, the event aimed to advance policy pathways in the realm of Technical Textiles.

During the conference, Shri Rajeev Saxena, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, provided insights into the various applications of Technical Textiles and underscored the potential markets in this sector. He urged industries in attendance to actively participate in the upcoming BHARAT TEX 2024, a mega event that will provide a platform for showcasing ideas and innovations in Technical Textiles with increased participation.

The panel discussions delved into diverse topics, including strategies for a circular economy, sustainability in Technical Textiles, agrotextiles, geotextiles in engineering applications for infrastructure development, and future trends in Technical Textiles. Eminent speakers, scientists, and industrialists from different parts of India, including Andhra Pradesh, enriched the event with their presence.

Shri G Amarnath, Minister of Industries, Infrastructure, Investment & Commerce, Information Technology, and Handlooms & Textiles in the Government of Andhra Pradesh, highlighted the importance of Technical Textiles. He extended a warm welcome to prospective investors in Technical Textiles, including those interested in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Smt. K Sunitha, Principal Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for Handlooms & Textiles, Industries & Commerce Department, elaborated on the initiatives undertaken by the State Government for the development of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in Handlooms & Textiles. She provided details on emerging opportunities within Technical Textiles, encouraging stakeholders to explore and contribute to the sector’s growth.

The conference successfully fostered collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation in the dynamic field of Technical Textiles, laying the groundwork for further advancements in this crucial industry.
