National Centre for Good Governance Wraps Up 8th Capacity Building Programme for Jammu & Kashmir Officers

New Delhi: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) successfully concluded its 8th Capacity Building Programme, aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of 38 senior officers from Jammu & Kashmir. The two-week program, designed by the NCGG, focused on fostering information exchange, knowledge sharing, and the implementation of innovative governance practices to promote citizen-centric governance in the region.

The valedictory session, chaired by Shri V. Srinivas, Director General, National Centre for Good Governance, highlighted the digital transformation initiatives undertaken by Jammu and Kashmir. Srinivas emphasized the seamless and transparent governance achieved through the adoption of digital technologies. The success of the e-unnat portal, boasting 1080 e-services, has significantly contributed to the progress of the region, connecting even the remote areas with digital advancements.

Addressing the officers, Srinivas acknowledged the impactful presentations made during the program, covering crucial topics such as the Smart City Programme, E-Unnat for improved service delivery, Skill India Mission, and the implementation of E-Office in Jammu and Kashmir. He expressed optimism about the advancements expected under the Smart City Project in the coming years.

Dr AP Singh, Associate Professor, and course coordinator provided insights into the diverse range of sessions conducted during the two-week program. These sessions covered vital areas such as land acquisition, compensation and rehabilitation, sustainable development goals, artificial intelligence in government, gender and development policies, new public management, climate change and biodiversity policies, GeM for transparent government procurement, disaster governance through technology, Ayushman Bharat for health security, Swamitva for land record management, circular economy practices, Jal Jeevan Mission for water supply, and public finance management.

The program also included an exposure visit to the Indian Parliament and PM Sanghralaya, providing officers with practical insights into governance practices at the national level.

The overall coordination and supervision of the 8th Capacity Building Programme for Jammu & Kashmir were led by Dr AP Singh, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator at NCGG, along with Dr. Mukesh Bhandari, Associate Course Coordinator, NCGG, and Shri Sanjay Dutt Pant, Programme Assistant, NCGG.

Established in 2014 by the Government of India, the National Centre for Good Governance plays a pivotal role in training civil servants not only from India but also from various countries, contributing to the global exchange of best governance practices. The centre has successfully trained over 4500 officers through its diverse training programs, extending its impact to nations including Bangladesh, Kenya, Tanzania, Tunisia, Gambia, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Laos, Vietnam, Bhutan, Cambodia, Seychelles, Nepal, and Myanmar. NCGG continues to uphold its commitment to building effective governance capabilities and fostering collaboration among nations.
