National Centre for Good Governance Concludes Pioneering Leadership Development Program for African Civil Servants

New Delhi: The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), a premier autonomous institution of the Indian government, successfully concluded its inaugural Two-week Advanced Leadership Development Programme on Public Policy and Governance for Civil Servants of the African Region on January 2, 2024. The program marked the first collaboration of its kind, hosting 34 senior officers from Eritrea, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Gambia.

During the valedictory session, Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG & Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), highlighted the historical ties between India and Africa. He emphasized the collaborative efforts, particularly under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, to strengthen relations and the sharing of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure policies as a global public good.

The program covered various topics, including changing paradigms of governance, Aadhar as a tool for good governance, land record modernization, GeM, Swamitva Scheme, public-private partnerships, climate change policies, and sustainable development goals. The participants also had exposure visits to key institutions, enhancing their learning experience.

In the valedictory session, the African delegates expressed their gratitude and the need for continued collaboration with Indian institutions. They highlighted the potential for shared governance initiatives to improve the quality of life in their respective countries. The participants requested future training programs for African civil servants and envisioned ongoing partnerships.

Dr. A.P Singh, Course Coordinator and Associate Professor at NCGG, provided a comprehensive overview of the program, emphasizing its diverse content and the valuable exposure visits that enriched the participants’ learning journey. The successful execution of this program represents a significant milestone for NCGG in its role as a premier institution for international civil servant capacity-building under the ITEC program.
