New Delhi:  In a grand inaugural ceremony, Shri Sarbanand Sonowal, Union Minister of Ayush and Shipping, Port Waterways, highlighted the rich legacy of Indian Traditional Medicine Systems during the opening of the National Arogya Fair. The event, organized by Shri Puran Chandra Gupta Smarak Trust in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush, aims to celebrate the diversity, innovation, and healthcare delivery in the Ayush sector.

Minister Sonowal stressed the significance of the National Arogya Fair, noting its contribution to propelling the Ayush sector forward. He underscored the importance of the ‘Har din Har Ghar Ayush’ campaign, designed to bring the benefits of Indian traditional medicine systems to the people. Sonowal also shared noteworthy achievements, revealing that out of the targeted 12,500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres, over 9,000 have already been established in just over nine years since the establishment of the Ministry of Ayush.

In his address, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, likened Ayush to a tree under which multiple medical systems flourish. He highlighted the ongoing efforts under the National Ayush Mission to extend Ayush services to every district in the country. Secretary Kotecha also pointed out significant advancements in research, with over forty thousand research publications available on the Ayush Research Portal. He expressed special joy over the establishment of the Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat, by the World Health Organization, marking a historic milestone for developing countries.

The National Arogya Fair, supported by the Ministry of Ayush, will be held from February 1 to February 4, 2024, at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. The event serves as a dynamic convergence of India’s healing traditions, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, showcasing the nation’s diverse culture and historical legacy in healthcare.

The fair aims to create awareness and encourage the adoption of holistic health and wellness practices. It provides a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among practitioners, experts, and enthusiasts. Additionally, the event offers space for businesses and vendors to promote products and services related to Ayush systems.

Key highlights of the National Arogya Fair include wellness workshops and seminars, exhibitions on Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Naturopathy, and Homeopathy, free health consultations, and cultural programs.
