Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief, hailing Udhas as the “beacon of Indian music” and acknowledging the irreplaceable gap he leaves behind.
In a heartfelt tribute, PM Modi shared cherished moments captured with Pankaj Udhas, reminiscing about the soul-stirring emotions conveyed through his singing. The Prime Minister recognized Udhas’ role as a guiding force in Indian music, transcending generations with his timeless melodies.

Pankaj Udhas, at the age of 72, passed away in Mumbai on Monday after a prolonged battle with cancer. The maestro’s contribution to the world of music remains etched in the hearts of millions, and the nation mourns the loss of an icon. May his soul rest in peace.
