Nagaland to See Major Boost in Rural Connectivity with PMGSY-III Sanctions

New Delhi: In a pivotal move to enhance rural infrastructure and foster economic development in the North-Eastern region, the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned 55.89 km of road length for Nagaland under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-III). With an estimated investment of ₹54.75 crore, this initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to improve connectivity in rural areas, aligning with its vision of a prosperous Northeast and a developed India (Viksit Bharat).

This latest approval comes on the heels of a larger ongoing initiative, where 40 roads covering 506.69 km have already been sanctioned under PMGSY-III in Nagaland, with an estimated investment of ₹489.70 crore. Together, these projects aim to bring about transformative changes in the region, ensuring that even the most remote villages are connected to urban centers and essential services.

The primary objectives of these projects include:

  • Improved Access to Services: Better roads will enable easier access to healthcare, education, and markets, addressing long-standing challenges faced by rural communities.
  • Enhanced Connectivity: The new roads will bridge the gap between remote villages and urban centers, facilitating smoother movement of goods and people.
  • Economic Development: By improving connectivity, the initiative will boost trade and commerce, fostering local businesses and markets in Nagaland and the broader North-Eastern region.
  • Employment Generation: The infrastructure projects are expected to create significant employment opportunities, both during construction and in the long term, stimulating local economies.

The PMGSY-III initiative underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring that rural areas in the North-East are not left behind in the nation’s progress. The improved road infrastructure is expected to have a ripple effect on various sectors, contributing to long-term growth and prosperity for the people of Nagaland.

With a focus on sustainable and inclusive development, these projects are set to transform the North-Eastern region, further integrating it into the nation’s economic framework and ensuring that the benefits of growth reach every corner of India.
