Mountaineer Tapi Mra from Arunachal Pradesh goes missing in snow-capped Kyarisatam

Itanagar: Tapi Mra the first mountaineer from Arunachal Pradesh to conquer Mount Everest has reportedly been missing for the past seven days while on an official mission to explore the snow-capped Mount Kyarisatam, one of the highest peaks of Arunachal Pradesh.

A team has been formed to trace the the 37-year-old Everester. Two Indian Army helicopters will conduct an aerial survey today morning. On locating the actual location of missing persons, rescue teams will be airdropped for evacuation.

Tapi Mra has been trying to summit Mt. Kyarisatam, the highest mountain in Arunachal Pradesh since 2014. This is is fourth attempt. He had climbed Mount Everest on May 21, 2009.

A team led by Tapi Mra were on an expedition to climb the Mount Kyarisatam. While five porters stayed at the base camp, Tapi Mra along with two other members moved ahead. However, one porter from the Puroik tribe accompanying Mra returned to the base camp where five porters were waiting for them. He informed that he was not feeling well and the whether is harsh up on the mountain and its raining continuously.

The news about Tapi Mra missing was reported by two porter who had returned to Seppa from base camp on Sunday.
