Bhubaneswar: With the rise in mercury, the Odisha government has decided on Wednesday to conduct classes in schools in the morning hours only.

The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a heatwave warning, and thus all the schools in the state have been asked to conduct morning classes from April 2.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash informed today that the morning classes will be held for Class I to VIII from 6:30 am to 10 am, while classes for the students of Class IX and X will be conducted from 7 am till 11 am.

“The decision to conduct morning classes has been taken given the heatwave warnings,” said Dash.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, several districts of Odisha would experience heatwave on March 31 and April 1. The day temperature is likely to rise above normal.

Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Angul, and Sambalpur are the districts to experience a heatwave.
