Bhubaneswar: From stitching and assembling to meeting a massive production target within a fixed deadline, Mission Shakti women across Odisha have taken up a large-scale national campaign initiative, producing 60 lakh National Flags for Har Ghar Tiranga 2026.
The target was achieved in full by the stipulated date, with women-led groups from all 30 districts contributing to the exercise. A total of 16,162 SHG members associated with 1,235 Self Help Groups, 201 Producer Groups and 138 Federations were involved in the production.
The initiative has given Mission Shakti members an opportunity to participate in the national campaign while also demonstrating the production capacity of Odisha’s women-led collectives. The assignment has helped strengthen their experience in collective enterprise, large-scale production and market-linked livelihood activities.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida described the achievement as a matter of pride for the State, saying it reflected the patriotism, commitment and entrepreneurial spirit of Mission Shakti women.
“The preparation of 60 lakh National Flags by our Mission Shakti women is a matter of immense pride for Odisha. It reflects their deep sense of patriotism, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit. Our women have once again demonstrated that when empowered through collective platforms, they can successfully undertake activities of significant scale,” she said.
Parida said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign also provides an opportunity to strengthen people’s participation in nation-building.
“Har Ghar Tiranga is not merely a celebration of our National Flag; it is also an expression of people’s participation in nation-building. Through Mission Shakti, our women are becoming active contributors to Odisha’s development while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for themselves and their communities,” she said.
The completion of the 60-lakh flag target with 100 per cent achievement highlights the growing capacity of Mission Shakti’s SHG network to undertake large-scale production activities while creating economic opportunities for women at the grassroots level.
The initiative has thus brought together patriotism, women’s collective enterprise and livelihood generation, with Mission Shakti women playing a key role in Odisha’s preparations for Har Ghar Tiranga 2026.
