Mission Shakti to Plant 2.5 Crore Trees Across the State, Says Pravati Parida

Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha and Minister of Mission Shakti, Pravati Parida, inaugurated the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative by planting a sapling in the Mission Shakti Bhawan campus. The planting of a ‘Baula’ sapling symbolizes the importance of nurturing and respecting nature, akin to the respect one has for one’s mother.

Following the sapling plantation, Deputy CM Parida chaired a meeting attended by enthusiastic Mission Shakti District and Block Federation leaders along with Community Support Staff. During the meeting, Parida emphasized the significance of honoring mothers and fostering a greener Odisha. She encouraged every citizen to plant a tree in the name of their mother, highlighting the vital role of community involvement in environmental sustainability.

“Honoring our mothers and protecting our environment go hand in hand. By planting a tree for our mothers, we are committing to a greener future for Odisha,” said Parida. She urged Mission Shakti Self Help Groups (SHGs), leaders, and officials to actively participate in this campaign across the state and contribute to this noble cause.

Parida also spoke about the profound impact of Mission Shakti on the socio-economic landscape of Odisha, detailing the extensive reach and transformative power of the initiative.

In a strong demonstration of support, Mission Shakti SHGs and leaders pledged to plant 2.5 crore trees across the state. This ambitious commitment underscores their dedication to honoring mothers, promoting environmental sustainability, and empowering women in Odisha.
