Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Women and Child Development has sanctioned a budget of Rs. 272 crore for the construction of Residential Accommodation for working women and girls pursuing Higher Education at Delhi University. This transformative initiative, funded under the Nirbhaya Fund, underscores the government’s steadfast commitment to fostering an environment conducive to the holistic development of women and girls across the nation.
The allocated budget will be dedicated to constructing purpose-built accommodations tailored specifically for female students and working women at Delhi University. Among the key features of this initiative is the earmarking of Rs. 72 crores for the deployment of state-of-the-art CCTV surveillance systems across the accommodation premises and the sprawling campus of Delhi University. The infusion of enhanced security measures aims to create a safe and secure environment conducive to the academic and personal growth of women.
The project will be executed in two phases, with each phase comprising the construction of 500 well-appointed accommodations. Upon completion, the facility will boast a total of 1000 beds, equipped with a range of gender-sensitive amenities designed to cater to the diverse needs of its residents. From modern living spaces to enhanced security infrastructure, every aspect of the accommodation has been meticulously planned to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of its occupants.
