Ministry of Food Processing Industries Holds Roundtable on World Food India 2025

New Delhi: The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) hosted a roundtable interaction with Resident Commissioners and representatives from States and Union Territories (UTs) on 17th February 2025, to discuss collaborative efforts for the upcoming World Food India 2025 event. The session, chaired by Dr. Subrata Gupta, Secretary, MoFPI, aimed to strengthen partnerships and enhance participation in the mega event scheduled for 25th – 28th September 2025.

Minhaj Alam, Additional Secretary, MoFPI, highlighted the significance of the roundtable, emphasizing that the event would serve as a platform for States and UTs to showcase their opportunities and engage with global and domestic business leaders. The roundtable offered a unique chance to connect with suppliers, purchasers, and technology providers, generating investment and sourcing opportunities across the food processing value chain.

During the keynote address, Dr. Subrata Gupta informed attendees that World Food India 2025 would be organized on a much larger scale than previous editions, with a focus on enhancing India’s global presence in the food processing sector. He outlined several key government initiatives, including the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLIS), the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme, and the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), all designed to drive investment, innovation, and value addition in the food sector.

Dr. Gupta emphasized that the success of such a large-scale event requires concerted efforts from all stakeholders across the food processing value chain. He urged States and UTs to participate actively, leveraging their strengths, and suggested that they share feedback and ideas to make the event a landmark initiative.

The Resident Commissioners and representatives of States and UTs expressed their full support for the event and shared valuable feedback. Suggestions included organizing consolidated sessions for States and UTs with similar food processing ecosystems and offering handholding support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to ensure active participation.

In his closing remarks, D. Praveen, Joint Secretary, MoFPI, urged all States and UTs to work closely with the Ministry to showcase the strength of India’s food processing sector and maximize their involvement in World Food India 2025. He also emphasized that the Ministry would be visiting various States to connect with industry stakeholders, promote the event, and understand industry challenges to enhance the ease of doing business.

The roundtable meeting marked an important step in preparing for World Food India 2025, reinforcing India’s commitment to positioning itself as a global leader in food processing and establishing a stronger food ecosystem across the country.
