Minister of State for MDoNER Chairs Review Meeting on Developmental Initiatives in North East Region

New Delhi: Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER), Shri B.L. Verma, conducted a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the progress made on the recommendations provided by Union Ministers during their periodic visits to the North Eastern Region (NER). The meeting witnessed the participation of Secretary and senior officers from MDoNER, along with representatives from various central ministries and departments.

The gathering included representatives from the Ministry of Railway, Road Transport and Highways, Women and Child Development, Civil Aviation, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, Rural Development, Commerce and Industries, Social Justice and Empowerment, Textiles, Tribal Affairs, Jal Shakti, Home Affairs, Skill Development, Tourism, Steel, Consumer Affairs, DPIIT, and state governments of all the North Eastern States.

Addressing the meeting, MoS, MDoNER highlighted the collaborative developmental efforts undertaken by MDoNER in conjunction with other central ministries and departments. These initiatives have contributed to the overall growth of the North Eastern Region. The Minister emphasized the significance of the visits made by Union Ministers to the NER, stressing that the recommendations put forth during these visits should be promptly addressed by the respective ministries and departments.

Emphasizing the need for regular monitoring of the action taken reports (ATRs), the Minister aimed to ensure the effective implementation of government schemes and projects in the North Eastern Region. During the review, MoS, MDoNER, along with the Secretary, scrutinized the status of ATRs submitted by ministries and departments, noting that several reports were yet to be received.

Secretary, MDoNER, took the opportunity to inform all participants about the recently launched “Poorvottar Sampark Setu” portal. The portal aims to streamline the submission of action taken reports by Ministries, Departments, and State Governments. He urged those yet to submit their reports to do so within the next week, facilitating efficient and transparent monitoring of developmental initiatives in the North Eastern Region.
