Minister Conducts Surprise Inspection of IG Park, Flags Poor Maintenance

Bhubaneswar: Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra paid a surprise visit to IG Park in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday to review the condition of public amenities and assess the overall maintenance of the popular city park.

Situated in a prime location and visited daily by a large number of residents, IG Park requires constant upkeep, the Minister noted during his inspection. Dr. Mahapatra interacted with visitors to gather firsthand feedback on the facilities and services available within the park.

Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the state of maintenance, the Minister particularly flagged the unhygienic condition of urinals and toilet facilities. He directed the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective steps to improve cleanliness, ensure regular maintenance and upgrade service standards. Warning against complacency, Dr. Mahapatra said strict action would be initiated against officials found negligent if such lapses continue.

Deputy Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, N. Ganesh Babu, accompanied the Minister during the visit. Officials and park maintenance staff were instructed to strengthen monitoring and supervision to ensure that IG Park remains clean, safe and welcoming for visitors at all times.
