MinisAnurag Singh Thakur Unveils Four Revolutionary Portals Transforming India’s Media Landscape

New Delhi: In a landmark development, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur, introduced four groundbreaking portals set to redefine India’s media landscape. These initiatives aim to facilitate a business-friendly environment for newspaper publishers and TV channels, enhance transparency in government communication, provide easy access to authentic government videos, and establish a comprehensive database of Local Cable Operators (LCOs) to streamline regulatory processes in the cable television sector.

Speaking at the launch event, Minister Thakur highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses, leading to increased investment and the flourishing startup ecosystem.

Acknowledging global recognition for India’s improved ease of doing business, Minister Thakur underscored the significance of platforms like the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) in creating opportunities for MSMEs and small businesses. He emphasized Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, focusing not only on economic reforms but also on fostering a transformative mindset, positioning entrepreneurs as crucial partners in national development.

The unveiled portals include:

Press Sewa Portal: A monumental step towards automating the newspaper registration process under the Press and Registration of Periodicals Act, 2023. The portal simplifies the registration procedures, offering online applications, a probability meter for title availability, real-time tracking of application status, and a dedicated module for District Magistrates.

Transparent Empanelment Media Planning and eBilling System: Introduced for the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), this system enhances transparency and efficiency in media planning processes, offering streamlined empanelment, automated media planning, and eBilling integration for seamless bill submission and payment.

NaViGate Bharat Portal: The National Video Gateway of Bharat, developed by the New Media Wing, provides a unified bilingual platform hosting videos related to various government schemes, initiatives, and campaigns. With dedicated pages for ministries, sectors, schemes, and campaigns, the portal ensures easy navigation, categorization, tagging, seamless video playback, and advanced search functionality.

National Register for LCOs: The first step towards a centralized registration system for Local Cable Operators, this initiative aims to bring registration under one roof, facilitating organized and responsible service in the cable sector.

These initiatives represent a significant stride towards a digitized and modernized media landscape, aligning with the government’s commitment to innovation and progress in the sector.
