Military Nursing Service Celebrates 99th Raising Day with Pride and Commitment

New Delhi: The Military Nursing Service (MNS) marked its 99th Raising Day today with a ceremony filled with solemnity and pride. Major General Ignatius Delos Flora, Additional Director General of Military Nursing Services, honored the occasion by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial, accompanied by senior MNS officers and esteemed veterans.

The day’s celebrations continued with a ceremonial cake-cutting event at the MNS Officers Mess, located in the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in New Delhi. This ceremony underscored the camaraderie and professional excellence that have characterized the MNS throughout its history, highlighting its indispensable role in the health and welfare of Indian soldiers, particularly during wars, conflicts, and national emergencies.

In a message celebrating the occasion, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi commended the MNS officers for their unwavering commitment to patient care, even in the most challenging conditions. He emphasized their crucial role as a “Pillar of Strength” within the Armed Forces Medical Services, acknowledging their dedication and resilience.

Established in 1926, the Military Nursing Service has evolved into a highly skilled and specialized cadre, firmly committed to providing exemplary medical care to Indian soldiers and their families. Over the past 99 years, the MNS has upheld its mission of “Service before Self” and continues to embody its motto, “Service with a Smile,” which resonates deeply with every officer in the service.
