
Bhubaneswar: Manoranjan Panigrahi, a seasoned officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), has taken on the mantle of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income-tax for Odisha, effective from April 1st. In addition to overseeing Odisha’s tax affairs, Panigrahi will also hold responsibility for Bihar and Jharkhand.
Prior to his assignment in Odisha, Panigrahi served as the Chief IT Commissioner for West Bengal and Sikkim, where he earned accolades for his exemplary leadership and strategic vision. His tenure in these regions saw notable advancements in tax administration and compliance.
Hailing from the 1988 batch of IRS officers, Panigrahi has garnered praise for his contributions to the field of taxation across diverse domains. His expertise and commitment have earned him recognition as a trusted authority within the Income Tax Department.
He has previously served as the Secretary of the Culture, Information, and Public Relations Department in the Odisha Government, where he made significant contributions to the promotion and preservation of Odia language, literature, and culture.
