Bhubaneswar: Manmath Routray, the younger son of Jatni MLA Suresh Routray, officially joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at a grand event held at Shankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
Manmath’s decision to join the BJD comes after he resigned from his position as a pilot at Air India in January last year to venture into politics. Initially speculated to contest the Jatni Assembly seat on a Congress ticket, Manmath’s alignment with the BJD marks a significant shift in his political trajectory.
Addressing the media following his induction into the party, Manmath expressed his aspirations and emphasized the importance of embracing change. He stated, “I have many aspirations, and there is much work to be done. Our family has a tradition of being closely connected with the people. Although my father allowed me to join the BJD with a heavy heart, we understand the importance of embracing change.”
Manmath’s decision to join the BJD adds momentum to the party’s preparations for the upcoming general elections, with the regional outfit aiming to consolidate its position in the political landscape of Odisha.
