Manchester Test Cancelled Due To Covid Outbreak In Indian Contingent

Much to the dismay of cricket fans all over the world, the India-England fifth test match that was scheduled to start today at Manchester, has been cancelled due to fear of further spread of Covid-19. The Indian team contingent has already been affected by the virus with head coach Ravi Shastri and several support staff members testing positive.

A press release from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed that both the boards have decided after several rounds of discussion to call off the fifth test in the ongoing India’s tour of England. Despite both the boards trying to go on with the schedule, the decision was taken following the outbreak of Covid-19 in the touring Indian party. The BCCI informed that the safety and well-being of players is of paramount importance and there can’t be any compromise in it.

Both BCCI and ECB will work out on rescheduling the test match in a later date.
