Bhubaneswar: Southern Odisha is on the brink of a connectivity revolution with the upcoming inauguration of Malkangiri Airport, scheduled to take place in January. This landmark development is expected to usher in a new era of air connectivity for the region, bringing about significant economic growth and opportunities.
Spread across an expansive 94.5 hectares of land and constructed at an investment of around Rs 33 crore, the airport is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming the economic landscape of Malkangiri. This marks another significant connectivity initiative for Malkangiri district, following the inauguration of the Gurupriya bridge in 2018, facilitating road connectivity between the cut-off areas of the district (Swabhimana Anchala) and the mainland.
The Malkangiri Airport is anticipated to open up avenues for trade, commerce, and tourism, creating a ripple effect of progress in the district.
