Major IPS Reshuffle in Odisha: Over 55 Officers Transferred, SDD Singh is New Police Commissioner of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a significant shake-up within the Odisha Police, the state government on Sunday transferred more than 55 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including Superintendents of Police (SPs) across 21 districts. The reshuffle, which involves several senior officers, was confirmed through official notifications from the Home Department.

Among the prominent changes, senior IPS officer A.K. Ray from the 1988 batch has been appointed as the Director General (DG) of Prisons and Correctional Services. Vinaytosh Mishra, a 1993-batch officer, has been named as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Crime Branch. Meanwhile, R.P. Koche has taken over as the Director of Intelligence, and Arun Bothra will now serve as ADG for Railways and Coastal Security. Saumyendra Kumar Priyadarsi has been assigned as the new ADG of Modernisation.

Notably, Sanjeeb Panda, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner, has been transferred and posted as the ADG of Training and the Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA). Suresh Dev Datta Singh will succeed Panda as the new Police Commissioner for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack.

Other key appointments include Anup Kumar Sahoo as Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Training at BPSPA, and S. Shyni, who has been named IGP for the Crime Against Women and Children Wing. Sanjay Kumar Kaushal will take charge as the new IG of the Vigilance Organization, Deepak Kumar will serve as IG of Fire Services and Home Guards, and J.N. Pankaj has been posted as IG of Operations.

In another significant change, Pinak Mishra has been appointed the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Bhubaneswar, replacing Prateek Singh, who has been transferred to Cuttack (Rural) as SP.

The reshuffle reflects the Odisha government’s ongoing efforts to streamline the state’s policing strategy and strengthen its administrative structure. This move impacts 27 senior officers and is expected to enhance law enforcement across Odisha.
