Kolkata: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has officially confirmed her marriage to senior Supreme Court lawyer and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) parliamentarian Pinaki Misra, bringing an end to a day of online speculation and media curiosity. The wedding reportedly took place in Berlin on May 30.
Speculation had begun earlier in the day after a photo of the couple—hand in hand, with Moitra wearing a gold sari and smiling—circulated widely on social media. While initial reports were met with silence from both sides, Moitra eventually shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) thanking well-wishers and confirming the marriage with a photograph of the two.
Soon after, congratulatory messages poured in from political colleagues and party leaders. Trinamool Congress General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee extended his best wishes on X, expressing hope for a strong and joyful partnership. TMC MP Saayoni Ghosh was among the first to share her congratulations online.
The wedding marks a personal union between two prominent figures from different political camps. Moitra, known for her outspoken parliamentary presence, represents Krishnanagar in West Bengal, while Misra, a respected legal expert and veteran politician, serves as the MP from Puri, Odisha and is a senior leader of the BJD.
