
Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar announced on Saturday that a low-pressure area is expected to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal around May 22. This weather system is likely to move northeastwards initially and develop into a depression over the central Bay of Bengal around May 24.
“A low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal around May 22. It is likely to move initially northeastwards and concentrate into a depression over central parts of the Bay of Bengal around May 24, 2024,” stated the regional meteorological centre via its ‘X’ handle.
Under the influence of this developing system, Odisha is likely to experience rainfall and thunderstorms. Residents and authorities in the state are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions as the situation evolves.
