LiFE Exhibition and Eco-Friendly Activities to Promote Sustainable Living at India Gate

New Delhi: In a bid to promote eco-conscious living and inspire positive environmental actions, a national exhibition and program of environment-friendly activities themed around LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) will take place on February 9th and 10th, 2024, at India Gate, Delhi. LiFE, an India-led global movement, aims to encourage individuals to adopt simple yet effective environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives.

The event will spotlight the role of youth in influencing behavioral change towards an environmentally conscious lifestyle. LiFE themes include conserving energy and water, reducing waste, adopting sustainable food systems and healthy lifestyles, and saying no to single-use plastic.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various LiFE actions, such as using bicycles for short commutes, conserving water by turning off taps, consuming locally available foods, using natural or organic products, planting trees, and waste segregation at home.

Event Highlights:

  1. Bicycle Rally: A symbolic demonstration of eco-friendly and healthy transportation around India Gate. Bicycles will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own.
  2. Cultural Show: Featuring thought-provoking street plays aimed at sensitizing people on the importance of environmental conservation and responsible behavior.
  3. Face Painting and Poster Making Competition: An artistic platform for expressing environmental messages creatively and colorfully.
  4. Demonstration Models: Illustrating in detail how LiFE themes can be practiced in daily life.
  5. Eco-Fashion Show: A runway event showcasing stylish and environmentally friendly clothing, emphasizing that fashion can be sustainable.
  6. Cultural Events: Celebrating the rich tapestry of the nation’s culture, highlighting the harmonious co-existence of nature and society.

Organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) India, a Resource Partner under the Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building, and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, the event aims to engage and inspire individuals to make informed choices for a sustainable future.
