
Paris: Lakshya Sen stormed into the quarterfinals of the men’s singles at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, securing a decisive straight-games win over fellow Indian H.S. Prannoy. At the La Chapelle Arena on Thursday, Sen dominated the match, finishing with scores of 21-12, 21-6 in just 39 minutes.
From the start, the 22-year-old Sen displayed superior skill and control. He quickly built a 5-1 lead in the first game, and despite a brief challenge from Prannoy, Sen’s consistent play allowed him to widen the gap to 10-5 and eventually close out the game 21-12.
The second game saw an even more dominant performance from Sen. He surged to an early 6-1 advantage and extended it further with a string of points, eventually leading 14-3. Sen wrapped up the match with a commanding 21-6 victory in the second game.
Sen will face 12th-seed Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals, who advanced by defeating Japan’s Kodai Naraoka in the Round of 16.
