KVIC Unveils ‘Sanatan Khadi Vastra’ Range with Special Discounts

Delhi:In a significant move to blend tradition with contemporary fashion, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched its latest collection, ‘Sanatan Khadi Vastra,’ at the flagship Khadi Bhawan in Connaught Place, Delhi. Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman of KVIC, introduced the collection, highlighting its unique characteristics and the special discount it offers to patrons.

‘Sanatan Khadi Vastra’ is crafted from Khadi fabrics and boasts a distinctive design conceptualized at the Khadi Center of Excellence (COEK) situated at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Chairman Shri Kumar, speaking at the launch event, emphasized the exclusivity of Sanatan textiles, as Khadi manufacturing involves no mechanical or chemical processes. He underscored the significance of these traditional textiles, aligning with India’s rich heritage.

To celebrate the launch, Khadi Bhawan, New Delhi, is extending a special discount of up to 20% on ‘Sanatan Vastra’ and offering discounts ranging from 10% to 60% on various Khadi and village industry products. This promotional offer is available from January 17 to January 25, 2024, providing consumers with the opportunity to embrace Khadi and village industry products at attractive prices.

Chairman Shri Kumar, addressing the audience during the launch, delved into the transformation of Khadi under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister’s vision, encapsulated as ‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion, and Khadi for Transformation,’ has inspired the creation of ‘Sanatan Vastra.’ The Chairman emphasized the need to adapt Khadi to modern times while cherishing its timeless essence, as a gift from India’s illustrious past.

Highlighting the role of Khadi in India’s struggle for independence, Shri Kumar pointed out that, under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi, Khadi became a powerful tool against British rule. Today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is dedicated to restoring Khadi to its former glory, and the business of Khadi and village industry products has witnessed remarkable growth in the last nine years.

Shri Kumar shared impressive statistics, citing the surge in Khadi business from Rs 1.34 lakh crore and the expansion of Khadi textiles production from Rs 880 crore to Rs 3000 crore. Sales of Khadi products soared from Rs 1170 crore to Rs 6000 crore, illustrating the resurgence of interest and demand for Khadi. The Chairman also highlighted record-breaking sales figures during events like Khadi Mahotsav, showcasing the enduring appeal of Khadi in the modern era.

With the introduction of ‘Sanatan Khadi Vastra,’ KVIC aims to connect with the youth, fostering a sense of Swadeshi and contributing to the livelihoods of artisans in rural India. The collection symbolizes a bridge between India’s glorious history and its vibrant present, as the nation continues to rediscover the timeless charm of Khadi.
