
Bhubaneswar: Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development, conducted a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the progress and activities of the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO). The session, held at Kharabela Bhawan, was centered on WATCO’s mission to provide safe and hygienic drinking water and to ensure the timely completion of ongoing projects.
Dr. Mahapatra underscored the vital importance of safe drinking water for public health and well-being. He urged WATCO to accelerate the completion of current projects to meet deadlines and address the growing water needs of the community. He also stressed the importance of addressing public grievances with empathy and efficiency, ensuring that citizen concerns are handled promptly.
WATCO CEO Pradipta Kumar Swain provided a detailed presentation on the corporation’s achievements and current objectives. Swain outlined the status of ongoing projects and shared the action plan for the fiscal year 2024-25. He also discussed future projects aimed at enhancing water supply infrastructure across Odisha, focusing on innovative solutions and strategic initiatives to build a more robust and sustainable water supply system.
The review meeting was attended by key officials including Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Public Enterprises T.Ao, Special Secretary of Housing & Urban Development Sagarika Pattanaik, and Special Secretary of Public Enterprises Nihar Ranjan Dash, among others. Their participation highlighted the collaborative efforts and unified approach towards achieving the government’s goals.
