Krushi Odisha to Celebrate Women in Agriculture

Bhubaneswar: The Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment is set to host ‘KRUSHI ODISHA-2024′ from January 12-14, 2024, at Janata Maidan. Ranendra Pratap Swain, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Fisheries, and ARD, announced the event’s theme as ‘Celebrating Women in Agriculture’.

The three-day program aims to recognize and celebrate the significant contributions of women in the field of agriculture and allied sectors. It seeks to create a platform for collaboration among women farmers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Women Agri-entrepreneurs, market players, service providers, and agri-preneurs (industry). The event will showcase the best products and practices of women farmers to enhance farm profitability.

The event expects the participation of around 5000 farm women, 2000 Women SHGs, and Agri-entrepreneurs from various corners of the state. Successful women farmers and SHGs will be felicitated during the program.

Krushi Odisha-2024 will highlight the enormous potential and investment opportunities in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food Processing, Fisheries, and Animal Husbandry Sectors in the state. The program will feature 17 technical sessions in collaboration with different state and central government departments, ICAR institutes, CGIAR institutes, and NGOs. It will include farmer-scientist interactions, seminars, Farmer Facilitation Centre, Experience Learning Centre, display of farm machineries, exhibition stalls on farm produces, and felicitation of awardees for women farmers and women SHGs.

To enrich the event, various activities such as quizzes, lectures, experimental water games, local farmer songs, storytelling, postcard exchange, Farmer Facilitation Centre, and Experimental Learning Centre will be organized. Progressive farmers, Agri-entrepreneurs, and SHGs (FPOs) from all 30 districts of the state, showcasing excellence in successful farming modules, will be felicitated during Krushi Odisha-2024.
