Koraput Coffee Makes History with National Accolades at Flavour of India Awards

Koraput: Marking a major milestone for Odisha’s coffee industry, Koraput Coffee has earned national acclaim by winning two Fine Cup awards and securing the fourth position in the prestigious Flavour of India – The Final Cup Award 2024. The announcement was made during the India International Coffee Festival 2025, held in Bangalore on April 26–27.

The recognition was part of the Coffee Board of India’s KYK (Know Your Kappi) Drive 2024, which seeks to identify and celebrate the country’s finest coffee varieties. Koraput’s Arabica Washed and Arabica Natural selections were awarded Fine Cup honors, celebrating their outstanding flavor, aroma, and quality. This is the first time coffee from Odisha has achieved dual recognition at a national-level competition, cementing Koraput’s place among India’s top coffee regions.

Driving this success story is the Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation of Odisha Ltd. (TDCCOL). The organisation ensures that tribal farmers are at the center of the process — from harvesting coffee cherries to overseeing post-harvest processing and market linkage. This model emphasizes both quality assurance and fair pricing for farmers, many of whom are first-generation coffee growers.

Adding to the celebration, TDCCOL received a Certificate of Appreciation for its efforts to elevate tribal-grown coffee onto a national platform. The recognition highlights the transformative role the organisation plays in promoting sustainable livelihoods and preserving indigenous farming practices.

The Fine Cup award, regarded as one of the highest honors in the Indian coffee industry, rewards not just exceptional taste but also transparency and traceability in coffee production.
