Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform Inspires Students with Scientific Excursion at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology

Hyderabad:   In an endeavor to ignite the spark of scientific curiosity among students, the Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform (KAMP) organized a remarkable scientific excursion at the prestigious CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) in Hyderabad. The event, held yesterday, welcomed more than 150 students from Ramadevi Public School and P M Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya Hakimpet, both located in Hyderabad.

The scientific excursion aimed to provide students with a unique opportunity to explore the realms of science, technology, and innovation. Dr. Vatsala Rani, Principal Scientist and CSIR-Jigyasa Coordinator at CSIR-IICT, along with her team, played a pivotal role in inspiring the students during interactive discussions and lab visits.

Throughout the labs, students gained practical insights into Anaerobic Gas Lift Reactor Technology, Water Purification Technologies, and Pheromone Technology. The hands-on experience allowed them to witness the real-world applications of scientific principles, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for these disciplines.

Expressing gratitude, Mr. Aniket Arora, Outreach Coordinator at KAMP, acknowledged the support of Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director of CSIR-IICT, and Dr. Vatsala Rani for their contribution to the success of the event. Arora emphasized the significance of such experiences in cultivating students’ profound interest in science and other developments in India.

Arora also highlighted upcoming activities, including online Knowledge Sharing Sessions, Scientific Excursions, and Continuous Professional Development programs for teachers. These initiatives aim to further immerse students and educators in diverse scientific disciplines within the real-world setting of various CSIR laboratories and research organizations across India.

The CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, a renowned national laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has played a pivotal role in chemical and biotech industries for over seventy years. The institution’s dynamic and innovative approach to research and development has earned it recognition globally.

The Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform, an initiative and knowledge alliance of CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NIScPR) and industrial partner M/S Nysa Communications Pvt. Ltd. (NCPL), is dedicated to fostering creativity, meaningful learning, critical reading, and thinking skills among students. The platform aims to unveil students’ inherent abilities and shape them into future leaders in the scientific community.
