KAMP Hosts Specialized Online Teacher Training on Experiential Science Learning

New Delhi: In a significant initiative, the Knowledge Ambassadors for Manipur Programme (KAMP) organized a specialized online teacher training program, bringing together over 150 educators from diverse schools nationwide. The fifth Continuous Professional Development program, conducted in collaboration with the CSIR-NML (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Metallurgical Laboratory), focused on the theme ‘Fostering Experiential Learning in Science Education, Beyond the Textbook.’

During the program, participating teachers engaged in comprehensive training sessions facilitated by subject matter experts. The sessions covered various dimensions of science education and provided a platform for educators to interact and learn from distinguished scientists. The prominent speakers included Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Chief Scientist and Head of Materials Engineering Division at CSIR-NML, Dr. K. Gopala Krishna, Chief Scientist of Materials Engineering Division, and Dr. Animesh Jana, Senior Scientist and PI of Jigyasa at CSIR-NML.

The scientists offered insights into CSIR-NML’s major focus areas, including materials, minerals, and effective management of primary and secondary resources. They introduced innovative tools to enhance the learning experience, emphasizing strategies for effective teaching and the importance of experiential learning.

The discussions delved into smart teaching methodologies, providing hands-on examples to illustrate key scientific concepts. Topics covered included the concept of primary colors, electromagnetic induction, and the intriguing aspect of contactless electricity transport. The multi-faceted approach aimed to broaden teachers’ understanding and equip them with tools to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for their students.

Expressing gratitude to the speakers and participants, Mr. Aniket Arora, Outreach Coordinator at KAMP, highlighted the significance of such events. He emphasized KAMP’s belief that experiential learning is crucial to fostering a deep interest and understanding of science among teachers and students alike.

Furthermore, Mr. Arora informed the teachers about upcoming activities, including online Knowledge Sharing Sessions, Scientific Excursions for students, and Continuous Professional Development opportunities. These initiatives aim to encourage exploration, discovery, and engagement with various scientific disciplines in real-world settings at prominent CSIR laboratories and research organizations in India.
