Jual Oram Takes Charge as Union Minister for Tribal Affairs

New Delhi: Jual Oram assumed office as the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs today, marking his commitment to the continued upliftment and development of tribal communities across India. The Minister was warmly welcomed by Vibhu Nayar, Secretary (Tribal Affairs), and other senior officers of the Ministry at his New Delhi office.

Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with this significant role, Oram highlighted the substantial progress made over the past decade under the Prime Minister’s leadership. “In the last 10 years, the Ministry has worked tremendously to ensure the all-round development of tribals across the country,” Oram stated. He emphasized his dedication to furthering this mission, pledging a 360° development strategy for tribal communities in the future.

Immediately after taking charge, Oram convened a meeting with senior ministry officials to review the progress of various programs and schemes currently in operation. He urged the officers to spare no effort in ensuring the comprehensive development of tribals nationwide, reinforcing the Ministry’s commitment to leave no stone unturned in achieving its goals.

Oram brings a wealth of experience to the position. He has been a member of the 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, and 17th Lok Sabha, representing the Sundargarh constituency since 1998. His tenure in public service is marked by a pioneering role when he was sworn in as the first Union Minister for Tribal Affairs on October 13, 1999, under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who created the Ministry.
