Ranchi: Babulal Hembrom, a promising talent from the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS), has made the nation proud by clinching two bronze medals at the ongoing IWF World Youth Weightlifting Championship in Lima, Peru. Babulal secured third place in both the 49 kg Snatch and Clean & Jerk categories, showcasing his exceptional skill and determination on the global stage.
The JSSPS, supported by Central Coal Fields Ltd (CCL), has been instrumental in nurturing talents like Babulal by providing state-of-the-art sports facilities in coal-bearing states. Located in Ranchi, this prestigious campus has been training around 500 sports persons while offering formal education, aiming to create a conducive environment for sports development in the region.
In line with this commitment, the Coal Ministry has outlined plans to establish “Centres of Excellence in Sports” across each of its seven subsidiaries as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. These centers aim to provide world-class training facilities and support infrastructure to aspiring athletes, further enhancing India’s prowess in various sporting disciplines.
