Jordan Armed Forces Training Delegation Visits Indian Naval Facilities

Kochi: A three-member delegation from the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF), led by Cdr Hazem I Maitah, conducted a maiden visit to the Southern Naval Command (SNC), Kochi, and the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, from April 29 to May 4, 2024. The visit aimed at fostering military training exchanges between Jordan and India, following discussions initiated during the second consultative meeting on defense cooperation between the two nations in March 2023.

During their visit to the Southern Naval Command, the delegation had the opportunity to explore various training facilities within the professional training schools. They engaged in familiarization sessions with simulators, participated in professional interactions, and witnessed demonstrations of Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) operations and Diving Ops. Additionally, they were given a guided tour of the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant and the ship repair facilities at Cochin Shipyard Ltd. The delegation also held discussions with Cmde Sritanu Guru, Cmde Training, Southern Naval Command, exploring avenues for engagement in naval training and professional courses between the Indian Navy and the Jordan Armed Forces.

At the Indian Naval Academy, the delegation met with VAdm Vineet McCarty, Commandant of INA, where they exchanged insights on training methodologies, leadership strategies, and operational experiences. They were provided with an overview of the state-of-the-art training facilities at the academy and engaged in discussions on best practices.
