Puri: The proposed International Airport at Puri will come up at Sipasarubali for which the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has approved 1,500-acre land.
Informing about the site, Puri Collector Samarth Verma said the district administration had identified four locations Girala, Sipasarubali, Samagara and Baliguali for the proposed international airport.
A 5 member technical team led by three senior AAI officials Shantanu Phalnikar, Vinod Kumar Pillai and Sushil Kumar Verma and two senior officials from Odisha visited the four sites for land review on June 17.
“The AAI team has finalised Sipasarubali as an ideal location for the proposed airport,” said the collector.
Stating that the AAI has prepared a report on the geographical location, the runway for the landing and takeoff of the flights, wind direction, road connectivity and economic viability, Phalnikar said, “The district administration has already provided details about the land. However, a blueprint on the design of the structure will be prepared after a meeting with the state government.”
