INS Tushil Arrives in Seychelles, Strengthens Bilateral Ties

Port Victoria, Seychelles: Indian Navy warship INS Tushil arrived at Port Victoria, Seychelles, on February 7, 2025, for an operational turnaround during its maiden passage along the West Coast of Africa. The vessel was warmly received by officials from the High Commission of India (HCI) and the Indian Navy detachment in Seychelles.

During the port call, Captain Peter Varghese, Commanding Officer of INS Tushil, hosted Shri Kartik Pande, High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, and Major General Michael Rosette, Chief of Defence Forces of Seychelles Defence Forces. As part of the visit, a demonstration of the NISHAR—MITRA Terminal was conducted, highlighting India’s technological advancements in maritime security.

India and Seychelles share a long-standing friendship, marked by mutual cooperation and strategic maritime ties. Diplomatic relations between the two nations date back to 1976, when India participated in Seychelles’ Independence Day celebrations with a contingent from INS Nilgiri. The arrival of INS Tushil reaffirms India’s commitment to strengthening maritime security and regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
