Mombasa, Kenya: In a significant move to enhance India’s relations with East Africa, INS Talwar docked at the port of Mombasa from September 22 to 25, 2024. This visit aligns with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of SAGAR—Security and Growth for All in the Region.
During its stay, personnel from the Indian Navy and the Kenya Navy engaged in a series of professional interactions and cross-exchange visits designed to bolster interoperability and cooperation between the two naval forces. The Commanding Officer of INS Talwar held discussions with Brig JS Kiswaa, Deputy Commander of the Kenya Navy, at the Mtongwe Naval Base. They focused on continuing professional interactions and training support to strengthen their partnership.
The professional exchanges included demonstrations of Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) techniques, as well as Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defence (NBCD) exercises onboard INS Talwar. Additionally, crew members participated in yoga and sports activities, fostering camaraderie between the two navies. As part of an outreach initiative, the crew of INS Talwar visited a local orphanage, emphasizing the humanitarian aspect of naval diplomacy.
