INS Mumbai Joins Multinational Exercise La Perouse

New Delhi: The indigenously designed and built guided-missile destroyer INS Mumbai is participating in the fourth edition of the prestigious Multinational Exercise La Perouse. This event has brought together naval forces from the Royal Australian Navy, French Navy, Royal Navy, United States Navy, Indonesian Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy, showcasing a strong commitment to maritime collaboration and operational synergy.

The exercise aims to enhance maritime situational awareness by fostering cooperation in surveillance, interdiction operations, air operations, and information sharing. It also provides an opportunity for participating navies to strengthen their coordination and develop advanced tactical capabilities. The event features a range of complex operations, including surface warfare, anti-air warfare, air-defense drills, cross-deck landings, tactical maneuvers, and constabulary missions such as Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) operations.

INS Mumbai’s active involvement highlights the Indian Navy’s advanced operational readiness and its ability to collaborate effectively with global maritime partners. The exercise underlines the shared commitment to a rules-based international order and strengthens the foundation for enhanced interoperability among like-minded navies.

The participation of INS Mumbai in La Perouse aligns with India’s vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region). This initiative seeks to promote maritime cooperation, ensure regional stability, and secure the Indo-Pacific as a prosperous and peaceful region.

La Perouse serves as a platform for international collaboration, where navies can build trust, share best practices, and enhance their ability to respond to maritime challenges. The Indian Navy’s presence reaffirms its dedication to fostering global partnerships and contributing to the safety and security of international waters.
