Injuries to Jadeja and Rahul Bring Sarfaraz Khan to India’s Squad for Second Test Against England

Vizag: India’s cricket team has been hit with setbacks as key players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul have been ruled out of the second IDFC First Bank Test against England in Vizag. The match is scheduled to start on February 2, 2024.

Ravindra Jadeja sustained a hamstring injury during the fourth day of the first Test in Hyderabad, while KL Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Medical Team is closely monitoring the progress of both players.

To fill the void left by Jadeja and Rahul, the Men’s Selection Committee has made changes to India’s squad for the second Test. Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar have been added to the team.

Additionally, in the India A squad for the third and final multi-day game against England Lions starting on February 1, 2024, in Ahmedabad, Saransh Jain will replace Washington Sundar.

Avesh Khan, who was part of the initial squad, will continue to travel with his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh, and will join the Test squad if required.

The updated India squad for the second Test against England includes:

  • Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, KS Bharat (WK), Dhruv Jurel (WK), Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (VC), Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar

These changes highlight the adaptability and depth of India’s cricket talent pool as the team looks to maintain its competitive edge against England in the ongoing series.
