Jharsuguda: In a major boost to air connectivity in Odisha, IndiGo Airlines has commenced daily direct flights between Jharsuguda and Mumbai, linking the state’s industrial hub with India’s financial capital. The inaugural flight landed at Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda on Saturday afternoon, marking a significant milestone in the region’s transportation network.
As per the flight schedule, IndiGo’s Airbus A320 will depart from Mumbai at 10:55 AM, arriving in Jharsuguda at 1:00 PM. The return flight will take off from Jharsuguda at 2:00 PM, reaching Mumbai by 4:15 PM. These seven-day-a-week services are expected to enhance business, tourism, and economic opportunities for the region.
The Airbus A320, with a seating capacity of around 180 passengers, will operate on this route, further strengthening Jharsuguda’s aviation network. While the current flight timings have been set, future schedule modifications may be introduced based on passenger demand and operational requirements.
With this new route, Jharsuguda is now well-connected to major metro cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, significantly improving accessibility for travelers. The enhanced air connectivity is expected to boost industrial growth and tourism, benefiting both businesses and local communities.
Apart from IndiGo, Star Air and Alliance Air also operate flights from Jharsuguda, connecting it to cities like Hyderabad, Raipur, and Lucknow. The addition of the Jharsuguda-Mumbai route provides passengers with more travel options, reinforcing Jharsuguda’s role as a growing aviation hub in eastern India.
