Indians Can Now Fly Over Mount Kailash and Mansarovar

Nepalgunj, Nepal: Shree Airlines of Nepal has initiated operations from Nepalgunj Airport to Kailash Mansarovar, allowing Indian devotees to undertake an enchanting aerial tour across Mount Kailash and the sacred Mansarovar lake.

On Monday, Shree Airlines conducted a Mount Kailash and Manasarovar aerial tour, hosting 38 Indian tourists from New Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh.

Resuming chartered flights presents an opportunity for Indian pilgrims to embark on mountain flights from Nepal, touring the holy sites around Mansarovar. China had previously prohibited the visitation of Indian pilgrims due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bombardier CRJ-700 with the registration 9N-AMB took off from Nepalgunj airport with 44 passengers, including foreigners, and a crew of five members. The flight was coordinated with Temple Trip Group, India, Siddhartha Hospitality Group, Nepalgunj, and Pathil Holidays, Kathmandu.

The route from Nepalgunj to Kailash Manasarover takes approximately 75 minutes, offering captivating views of the holy lake and the revered Mount Kailash. The flight, commanded by Captain Prafull Vaidya and Captain Rajesh Shrestha, soared at a height of 27,000 ft, providing a unique perspective of the sacred sites.

“We are hopeful that the aerial flight of Mount Kailash and Mansarovar in Tibet will promote Nepal’s religious tourism,” stated the airline, expressing optimism about the impact on religious tourism.

Shree Airlines is planning to launch a comprehensive Kailash-Manasarovar yatra package from Nepalgunj and Pashupati in Kathmandu in the near future.

Indian tourists who experienced the mountain flight from Nepalgung expressed joy, with Punam Bhusal, a hotelier in Nepalgunj, acknowledging its positive impact on the local tourism industry.

Mount Kailash and Mansarovar, situated in Tibet, are revered holy sites for both Hindu and Buddhist communities, attracting pilgrims, especially Hindus from Nepal and India. Mount Kailash is considered a sacred pilgrimage site, accessible through routes in Uttarakhand, India, or via Nepalgunj.
