
Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the Indian squad for the Paytm T20I series against South Africa.
While KL Rahul will lead the team and Rishabh Pant has been assigned the responsibility as the vice-captain.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s pace sensation Umran Malik and Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh has also been selected for the team.
Other members of the Indian squad are- Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda, Shreyas Iyer, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Hardik Pandya, Venkatesh Iyer, Y Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, R Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar, Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan.
Senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohd Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, and others will miss the series as they have been rested for the upcoming test match against England.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who had not played for India since T20 World Cup will make a comeback.
The five-match T20I series against South Africa will be played in New Delhi, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, and Bengaluru. The series is scheduled to start on June 9 and the last match will be played on June 19.
The BCCI also announced the Test squad for the fifth rescheduled Test against England. Rohit Sharma will lead the test team and KL Rahul will be the vice-captain. The test against England will be played at Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 1-5.
Other members of the Indian test squad are- Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant (wk), KS Bharat (wk), R Jadeja, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohd Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Prasidh Krishna.
