
New Delhi: Indian rifle and pistol shooters, including Paris Olympics quota winners Akhil Sheoran, Anish Bhanwala, and Niraj Kumar, showcased stellar performances, clinching six medals, including two gold, to conclude their campaign at the Polish Grand Prix.
Currently on an exposure tour to Europe in preparation for Paris 2024, India’s shooters made their mark at the Grand Prix Wroclawia & Dolnego Slaska and the Jozef Zapedzki Grand Prix.
Akhil Sheoran set the stage on fire by securing gold in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) match, with an impressive score of 468.4. Anish Bhanwala continued India’s golden streak by clinching gold in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event at the Jozef Zapedzki Grand Prix.
Niraj Kumar showcased exceptional prowess, earning two bronze medals in the men’s 3P matches. His stellar performances included remarkable scores of 595 and 594 in the qualification rounds.
Shriyanka Sadangi secured bronze in the women’s 3P event, while Ashi Chouksey bagged a silver in another women’s 3P event, further bolstering India’s medal tally.
The entourage of Indian shooters now heads to Germany for the ISAS Dortmund, commencing on Tuesday, March 18, 2024. With their stellar performances, Indian shooters have set high expectations for themselves as they gear up for the Paris Olympics later this year.
