Indian Shooters Narrowly Miss Out on Medal in Mixed Skeet Team Event at Paris Olympics 2024

Paris: Indian shooters Maheswari Chauhan and Ananjteet Naruka narrowly missed adding to the national medal tally, finishing fourth in the mixed skeet team event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Monday. The Indian duo was edged out by the Chinese pair of Jiang Yiting and Lyu Jianlin.

In a closely contested match, Yiting and Jianlin secured the bronze medal with a score of 44 out of a possible 48, while Chauhan and Naruka finished just one point behind, with a score of 43.

Earlier in the day, the Indian team had placed fourth in the qualification round. Both the Indian and Chinese teams were tied with a score of 146 at the end of the three-round, 150-shot process, leading to a tense shoot-off to determine who would advance.

Maheswari Chauhan demonstrated remarkable precision in the qualification rounds, achieving a perfect score of 50/50 in her final two rounds. Ananjteet Naruka also showed strong performance with scores of 25, 23, and 24 in his three rounds.

Despite the disappointment of missing out on a medal, the performance of Chauhan and Naruka reflects the competitive spirit and high skill level of the Indian shooting team at the Paris Olympics.
