Indian Railways Adds Extra Coach to Puri–Bangiriposi Express to Meet Rising Passenger Demand

Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at improving travel comfort and addressing the growing passenger demand, Indian Railways has announced the temporary augmentation of the 12892/12891 Puri–Bangiriposi–Puri Express by adding one Second Class Chair Car Coach.

Starting from June 1, 2025, the train will depart from Puri with a total of 15 coaches—an increase from the current 14. In the return direction, the additional coach will be attached to the train from Bangiriposi starting June 2. This augmentation will remain in place until July 1, 2025.

The decision follows a detailed analysis of passenger traffic, especially along the route that serves several aspirational districts. The additional Chair Car Coach is expected to enhance seating availability, offering greater convenience to regular commuters, tourists, and long-distance travelers.

The initiative has been welcomed by the public, with passengers and local representatives expressing appreciation through social media and formal feedback channels. Many have praised Indian Railways for its responsiveness to ground-level needs and timely interventions to improve services.
