Indian Navy and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Forge Partnership to Strengthen Logistics

New Delhi: Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), Vadodara, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Navy today, aiming to enhance logistics education, research, and training. The agreement was formalized by Vice Admiral Deepak Kapoor, Controller of Logistics, Indian Navy, and Prof. Manoj Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor, GSV, in a ceremony held in New Delhi.

This collaboration marks a major milestone in bolstering the Indian Navy’s logistics capabilities, focusing on cutting-edge areas such as supply chain management, multimodal transportation, and sustainable practices. It aligns with key national initiatives, including the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022, which aim to revolutionize India’s infrastructure and logistics sectors.

The MoU outlines a framework for advancing logistics through academic and practical collaborations:

  • Education and Training: Indian Navy officers will have access to academic programs and management development courses tailored by GSV.
  • Technological Integration: The partnership will explore the application of artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and blockchain technology to modernize naval logistics.
  • Sustainability: Emphasis will be placed on creating sustainable logistics solutions to optimize resources and reduce environmental impact.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Both institutions will exchange expertise and case studies to drive innovation in logistics practices.

Building on existing collaborations with the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, this MoU makes GSV a key partner for all three defence services. The university’s focus on logistics and transportation positions it as a leader in developing solutions for India’s defence and industrial sectors.

Vice Admiral Deepak Kapoor expressed confidence in the partnership, noting, “This collaboration will empower the Navy with advanced logistics capabilities and provide practical insights to optimize our operations.”

Prof. Manoj Choudhary highlighted the critical role of efficient logistics in military readiness, stating, “Our focus is to innovate and collaborate to meet national priorities. This partnership with the Indian Navy exemplifies our commitment to excellence in logistics and transportation.”

Established in 2022 as a central university under the Ministry of Railways, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya aims to create a world-class talent pool in logistics and transportation. Under the leadership of Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw as its first Chancellor, the institution is driving innovation to address India’s logistical challenges.

The signing ceremony, attended by Rear Admiral Rajat Kapoor and senior officials from the Ministry of Railways, Indian Navy, and GSV, underscores the shared vision of strengthening India’s defence and logistics framework. The partnership reflects a concerted effort to integrate education, technology, and sustainability, ensuring that India’s defence logistics remain robust and future-ready.
