Sihanoukville, Cambodia: As part of its Long Range Training Deployment to Southeast Asia, the First Training Squadron (1TS) of the Indian Navy, comprising INS Sujata and ICGS Veera, arrived at Sihanoukville Port, Cambodia, on February 14, 2025. The ships were warmly welcomed by representatives of Cambodia’s maritime agencies, reinforcing the strong naval ties between the two nations.
During their port call from February 14 to 17, the Indian naval contingent will engage in a series of activities aimed at strengthening cooperation and interoperability with the Royal Cambodian Navy (RCN). These engagements include professional exchanges, cross-training visits, friendly sports fixtures, and a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the RCN. A key highlight of the visit will be the formal handing over of a Small Arms Simulator to the Royal Cambodian Army, furthering India’s commitment to capacity-building efforts in the region.
The visit underscores the growing defence and maritime collaboration between India and Cambodia, a crucial component of their longstanding bilateral relationship. In February 2024, the Cambodian Navy participated in Exercise MILAN 24 at Visakhapatnam, showcasing deepening defence ties. This latest visit aligns with India’s Act East policy, reaffirming New Delhi’s commitment to enhancing maritime security and regional stability in Southeast Asia.
