Indian Naval Ships Arrive in Thailand for Strengthening Maritime Cooperation

Phuket: As part of its ongoing training deployment to Southeast Asia, three Indian naval ships—INS Shardul, INS Sujata, and ICGS Veera—arrived at Phuket Deep Sea Port in Thailand today. The First Training Squadron (1TS) was welcomed with full ceremonial honors by the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), with the RTN band playing in celebration of the visit.

Senior Officer Captain Anshul Kishore, along with the Commanding Officers of the ships, called on Rear Admiral Suwat Donsakul, Commander of the Third Naval Area Command. Their discussions focused on regional security, joint training exercises, and avenues for further cooperation, reinforcing the strong maritime ties between the two nations.

A special reception was hosted aboard the Indian ships, attended by senior RTN officials, diplomats, and members of the Indian diaspora. Over the course of the port call, personnel from both navies will engage in a series of interactions and cooperative activities aimed at enhancing operational synergy. The planned engagements include professional discussions, cross-training visits, friendly sporting events, yoga sessions, a naval band performance, and a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) at sea.

The Indian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy have long shared a close and friendly relationship, which has strengthened through joint exercises, training programs, and high-level exchanges. This visit marks another milestone in their ongoing partnership, fostering greater mutual understanding and interoperability between the two maritime forces.
