Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS) Hosts Ninth Annual General Body Meeting

 

New Delhi:  The Indian National Young Academy of Science (INYAS) successfully conducted its ninth Annual General Body Meeting on February 17th, bringing together young scientists and scholars from across the country. The esteemed event featured Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), as the Guest of Honour.

During the gathering, Prof. Aggarwal delivered a thought-provoking talk, shedding light on the vital role of science communication in fostering a scientific temperament within society. She elaborated on the key objectives and activities of CSIR-NIScPR, emphasizing the significance of effective science communication in bridging the gap between the scientific community and the general public.

As a highlight of the occasion, Prof. Aggarwal unveiled and released the annual newsletter of INYAS, providing a comprehensive overview of the academy’s achievements, initiatives, and future endeavors.

INYAS, established in 2014, stands as the sole recognized academy of young scientists in India. The academy was founded with a visionary goal of promoting science education and fostering networking opportunities among young scientists. Having successfully completed a five-year incubation period, INYAS has entered a new phase of growth and development since 2020.

CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, specializes in science communication, evidence-based policy research, and studies focused on science, technology, and innovation. The institute is renowned for its publications, including journals, books, magazines, newsletters, and reports that contribute to the dissemination of knowledge in the fields of science and technology.

The research conducted by CSIR-NIScPR encompasses various aspects such as science communication, science policy, innovation systems, science-society interface, and science diplomacy. The collaboration between INYAS and CSIR-NIScPR underscores the commitment to advancing scientific education, communication, and research in India.

The Annual General Body Meeting served as a platform for young scientists to exchange ideas, share insights, and strengthen the collaborative spirit within the scientific community. It reflects the ongoing commitment of INYAS and CSIR-NIScPR towards shaping a vibrant and dynamic future for science in India.
